Adorable
Footnotes 92-94
(Cherry Red)

A far as songs, this collection is inadequately named as this compilation is hardly comprised of just mere footnotes. Collecting the best offerings spanning the Coventry UK band’s all-to-brief career between 1992 & 1994 is a must for fans of Britpop/shoegaze from the era (especially those who missed out on obtaining both their now out-of-print and stellar LPs Against Perfection and Fake on Creation Records). Chock full of goosebump moments, Footnotes gathers all seven official singles and a new edit of "Glorious" that is the only track exclusive to this release.

The opening “Sunshine Smile” will pummel you with its monster chorus and abiding guitars. Matching the shimmering guitars of Kitchens of Distinction in some places and the driving crunch of Swervedriver & Catherine Wheel in others, Adorable were just as relevant as anything else out at that time and still today. The swirling jangle encompassing Piotr Fijalkowski’s vocal of, “I don’t need you and this feeling is glorious” is one for the ages! As much as I’d like to review each song on this amazing compilation, I will leave you with this, PICK IT UP NOW! For you gentlemen out there who still believe in relaying compilations to your sweethearts as support for your feelings, put the epic “Breathless” on your next one! This retrospective is long overdue and can hopefully spur the band into reuniting and touring like some of their contemporaries!!
