Temper Trap
Conditions
(Liberation)

You have to love when an album continues to grow on you with repeated listenings. Such is the case with the debut studio album, Conditions, from Melbourne, Australia's The Temper Trap.

The Temper Trap falls into the category of alternative rock, but do so in a very creative manner. Lead vocalist Dougie Mandagi has a truly unique vocal style, often times sounding like a cross of Jimmy Sommerville from Bronski Beat/Communards fame, and Aaron Behrens from Ghostland Observatory. The rest of the band complements the vocals very well, creating a musical style that recalls the indie prog-rock type anthems of Mew, all the while featuring a grand guitar sound.

Conditions starts out on a high note with the sweet sounds of the lead track "Love Lost". The album progresses from there, showcasing a variety of tempos and melodies. A Motown feel resonates on tracks such as "Sweet Disposition", while powerful indie-rock is at the forefront on a track such as "Science of Fear", an incredible piece of music. The Temper Trap showcases their ability to play very well on the last track of the album, the instrumental "Drum Song".

If you are in the market for a great new album that has a distinct and uncommon style, Conditions from The Temper Trap is a great find!
