Mix cutesy sixties girlie-pop with a dash of riot grrrl swagger and you'll have an idea of what the All Girl Summer Fun Band are all about. They combine the guitar chime and vocal harmonies of any generic sixties female pop group spitting out Brill Building candy hits with a touch of their own attitude and lyrics that put the songs in today's world. The combination works without fail.
Most of the songs are about relationships gone awry, the best being 'Later Operator', which opens with the lyric "My boyfriend never shaves/ my boyfriend rarely bathes/ he's got surfer magazines that he'll always save…" if that's not an indie rock love song, I don't know what is. The best part about the All Girl Summer Fun Band is that their name describes them perfectly, there's nothing I'd rather have playing for a nice day of sun, fun and beer on the beach. Short, sweet, and melodic, these songs are catchy and fun and you'll find yourself singing along in no time. Highly Recommended. -Dan
