A lot like his debut, Badly Drawn Boy relishes in emotional pop stylings on "Have You Fed the Fish?", yet providing a much heavier pop flavor. Not only that, but some funk, R&B, and orchestration allow an extremely wide range of deliveries. At first listen, it starts to grab at this strange hunger you never knew you had. That incorrigible desire to want to feel happy is what I speak of. Badly Drawn Boy can bring you down as fast as he lifted you up however.
"Have You Fed the Fish?" is pop, pure and simple. I don't know that it is anything magical, but I do know it invokes emotion and creativity when listened to. I would recommend his debut record, "Hour of the Bewilderbeast", as a fantastic accompaniment to any pop connoisseur's collection. And if you can't live without your Brit-pop for the month go for "Have You Fed the Fish?" as well.
