Cathode
"The World and Back" EP
(555)
So I'm driving in my car and I jump onto the friggin' "road to Beirut" (I-17)
and I have just popped in the new 4 song EP from the electronic music project-Cathode.
The seconds pass along, as the fiery motorists, who so gallantly lock themselves
away in their icy cool, bubble cars, race past me entranced with blatant disregard
for human life. I am a firm believer that air conditioning casts a spell on
any and all that experience it. All of a sudden, I realize how I have begun
to slip away from the battle arena of which Arizonans like to call- "Gridlock".
Yes, I am being seduced into a hyper reality by all of the clicks and pulses
that are oozing out of my speakers and into my ears. Just beyond my eardrums,
I start to feel a little invasion of my cortex. Cathode is waging an all out
war on my reality. I can feel the neurons in my brain tell each other secrets
through some sort of sacred synaptic decoding process. It is not unlike any
marching army of electronic insects crawling from nerve to nerve. The battalion
of agents quickly diffuses any and all defenses of which I am equipped. The
experience is an onslaught of swelling drones and harmonies of phonic percussion
that are advancing to my equilibrium with a pummeling, rhythmical pattern.
(At this point I am totally rocking out). I realize that I have been taken
down an alternate pathway. Astray from my original route and destination,
I am finally thrust back into "reality" completely unaware of the ass that
I have been, though it has been currently brought to my attention by lookers-on
in the muscle-filled Jeep next to me. Trying to ignore them, I turn up my
stereo. I am wishing for a super-futuristic, hydrogen-based car that doesn't
smell like burning dinosaurs. I start thinking about how the Honda motor corp.
designs their steering wheels to be of the most ergonomic fit. I am pretty
sure that they have controlled test groups grab a moldable piece of foam and
squeeze it as naturally as possible. Then, Honda just uses that mold to fit
the average palms, fingers and thumbs… or maybe it's just because I am half
Japanese… a_j \^_^/ Greek: kathodos: a pathway) (A cathode is a negatively
charged ion or a descent… either way Cathode will put a little spark in your
summer nights!) -
