Longwave
"Day Sleeper" EP
(Fenway Records)
Hey, you've gotta check out Longwave. What?!? You haven't heard of them?
Well
guess what? These guys went on tour with Radiohead! Ohmigosh, ohmigosh,
ohmigosh! They're gonna be the next biggest, coolest, most unattainable band
in the world
I strongly doubt it. This delectable morsel of music, brought to you by newly
propelled band Longwave, is tasty, but a band can only be as prolific as the
accolades they accumulate and the respect they garner from their audiences
around the globe. They've earned mine already, and only with the consumption
of their four song Day Sleeper EP. A slight "borrowing" of title
from REM can yield no distaste, for there are many, many more terrible bands
to borrow from than that.
It is a given that these boys are UK blokes by both accents on vocals and
guitar stylings. If you listen to the record and don't hear The Edge as frequently
as I do, let's get a pot of coffee and listen to every release by U2, and
we'll have a breakthrough by 1985. I'm sure of it. I'm a convincing guy. See
you're convinced. I'm recommending the "Day Sleeper" EP for any
fan of that edgy Brit-pop. Now go buy it, now!
