The Warlocks
" Phoenix Album"
(Birdman Records)
These guys aren't sure if they want to be the Velvet Underground, or the
Dandy Warhols. Actually, they probably want to be both. And they do a fine
job of it. Saturated guitars yielding 1-4-5 chordings, and some seriously
moving drums provide most of the force. If you've dipped into Grand Mal, then
your chips should be the Warlocks. They've been doing it right since 1998
in Los Angeles, and released their first EP on father figure indie label Bomp!
Records.
If you own any of the following records, Phoenix Album should be in your folder
as well: White Light, White Heat - Velvet Underground; Maledictions - Grand
Mal;
The Dandy Warhols Come Down - Dandy Warhols; American Beauty -
The Grateful Dead.
