Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"The Machine"
(Touch and Go)
Another short and sweet EP from the Brooklyn trio leaves you wanting a full-length
now, more than ever. Karen O rules over all of my important parts, my ears
and heart, and howls like Chrissy Hynde on hot coals. The guitars are very
simple, yet somehow retain enough of that punk derivation to keep the bus
moving, and the drums drive it hard and fast when desired, but tap the breaks
to recoup and rebuild. The songs on this EP are quite a bit more artsy than
those on the "Master" (self titled) EP, but if you dug that, than
you'll dig this. All of you Brass in Pocket fans out there, there exists a
new voice to be heard and she's not pretending.
