CHAT PILE - Live At Roadburn LP (Flenser)
Before Chat Pile took on sold out tours and widespread critical acclaim, they played Roadburn 2023, their biggest show to date, in front of a packed room of 3,000 on the festival's main stage. Fresh off the release of God's Country, the Oklahoma quartet brought their suffocating, sludgy noise rock to Tilburg for their first ever European performance, delivering a set that felt like a milestone. The bleakness, the anguish, the raw absurdity-it all scaled up effortlessly, proving that Chat Pile's chaos could consume any audience, no matter the size. The set was recorded and later remixed by the band's longtime engineer Jared Stimpfl, capturing the full weight of the performance. The result is something both massive and unrelenting, a document of Chat Pile at a pivotal moment, pushing their sound to it's heaviest and most visceral extremes. A gut-churning amalgam of molten guitars, pile-driving drums, and agonized howls, Chat Pile's sound is as ugly as their inspiration

PLOSIVS - Yell At Cloud CD/LP (Swami Records)
Over four years in the making, Yell At Cloud is the follow up to the Plosivs critically hailed debut (RollingStone. Biz said best new release of the week in 2021). From lurching dissonance to uplifting harmonic convergences Yell At Cloud is a stark, black and white departure from their debut.
SHARP PINS - Balloon Balloon Balloon LP (K. Records)
Fall in Love again with Balloon Balloon Balloon. Submission. That's the word that comes to mind when tasked with spending time on the overwhelming pop planet that belongs to Kai Slater's Sharp Pins. The universe only works when you submit: submit to love, submit to rock music. Submission to the power that comes from a kid wielding his guitar to craft impeccable guitar pop that stands in a pantheon of idols he joins with this record. Of course it makes sense to be mad at first. Everyone was mad at Big Star for getting too close to the Beatles. And everyone will be mad at Sharp Pins for doing the same and then adding Guided by Voices into the mix. How dare he? The hubris. What 20 year old thinks they can out Robert Pollard the man himself? Queen of Globes and Mirrors? Criminal. With a worse crime of crafting songs so puzzlingly timeless, a listener may well believe they were poached from a lost Beatles tape.
TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB - Tourist History LP Reissue(Glassnote)
Fifteen years ago, Two Door Cinema Club lit up the indie music world with their debut album, Tourist History-a record that seamlessly blended indie rock with electronic influences. Featuring era-defining anthems like Undercover Martyn, Something Good Can Work, and the breakout smash What You Know, the album was both a commercial and critical success. It topped the independent album charts in their native Ireland and reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Tourist History has since been certified platinum in the UK and was awarded the 2010 Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year.
