(11/20/26) Coil - Gold is the Metal LP

Coil’s vital 1987 compilation. The album was the third in a trilogy that began with Scatology and Horse Rotorvator, with much of the material emerging from the same period of recordings. It hones 'electro-erotics of sound,' blending textural instrumental pieces with notable field recordings – including a drunken brass band captured in Mexico and a Thai boxing arena recorded by Sleazy. A key moment of serendipity is found in ‘Metal In The Head’, which features a malfunctioning Fairlight sampler randomly rearranging and distorting the music. Remastered under the guidance of original member Stephen Thrower, this new edition features restored artwork, previously unseen imagery and new sleeve notes, and marks the start of a new reissue series through The Grey Area of Mute.
