Big Crown Day - Sat 10/24

Big Crown Day - October 24th - 10AM - 4PM

Come celebrate Big Crown Records’ 10th Anniversary and pick up these limited edition releases (below). We'll be spinning our favorite Big Crown records all day long, and we'll have a raffle to enter win a Big Crown Tote Prize pack!

Big Crown partnered with the good folks at Wax Poetics to make a limited edition magazine dedicated to the label's story. A deep dive into the photo archives, interviews label owners Leon Michels and Danny Akalepse, and a ton more. The 40-plus-page magazine comes with a never-before-released 7" featuring "Oh Medaase!" by El Michels Affair feat. Ahemaa Nwomkro on the A side, and "Here Tomorrow, Gone Today" by Dave Guy on the B side.

Big Crown also linked up with World Famous 7” DJ, Japan’s own DJ Koco aka Shimokita and he runs through 10 years of Big Crown 45s like no one else can. An hour and ten minutes of the master at work interpreting the BCR 7 catalog through his lens on a Limited Edition Cassette with cover art by J Bonner.

You can also pick up Big Crown’s 2LP compilation BCR10 - Ten Years of Big Crown a week ahead of the worldwide street date. The double LP is somewhere between a retrospective and a state of affairs, tried-and-true gems from the back catalog mixed with rock-solid tunes from the newest records. Choice tracks by Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, Lady Wray, Brainstory, Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, El Michels Affair, Thee Lakesiders, Dave Guy, Les Imprimés, Homer, Thee Marloes, Lee Fields & The Expressions, Bobby Oroza, Marco Benevento, The Shacks, Paul & The Tall Trees, Thee Heart Tones, Surprise Chef, 79.5, Liam Bailey, and Holy Hive. A deeper dive into the Big Crown story is told perfectly in the liner notes by the one and only, journalist & DJ, Jeff Mao and it comes with a killer 8 ½ X 11” sticker sheet.
