To celebrate it's 20th anniversary, the collaboration album between Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris, All The Roadrunning, is reissued on 2LP smoky marble vinyl for Record Store Day 2026. A treasure trove of duets recorded over a period of seven years, All The Roadrunning, was originally released in 2006. It was a Top 10 hit in the UK and #1 in multiple European countries. The album features the title track that reached #8 on the UK singles chart, as well as singles "This Is Us" and "Beachcombing." Speaking at the time, Knopfler, who first met Harris on a Chet Atkins TV special, said "Emmylou's respect and affection for the players and the music struck me then and still does. In my writing, I'd been dealing a fair bit with the male/female shape. With that amazing voice, Emmylou, now more than ever, seems to capture a kind of universal female experience, something that speaks to all ages. After our first session and then making a couple of duets for a Hank Williams tribute, I thought we should go on recording, and thankfully Emmylou felt the same." In Emmylou's words, "Making this album was a pure joy - being surrounded by extraordinary musicians and guided by one of the great artists of our time. Truly it is a gift for which I will always be grateful." Neil McCormick's review of the album for the Telegraph in the UK described it as "one of the best albums of both their careers."
